Balance Class
A key component to any older adult exercise program, balance training focuses on improving your footwork, coordination, flexibility, and core and lower body strength. Equipment: Foam Balance Pads, Boom box or stereo recommended, but not required. Chairs required.
(30-60 minutes)
Circuit
There are no shortcuts to this workout. Get down to basics with a training regimen that will challenge every muscle in your body. This class consists of stations of cardiovascular conditioning using the step or low impact movement. Stations of muscle conditioning are also included to work upper and lower body. Core strength (abs and low back) round out this challenging class. Equipment: Adjustable benches recommended, but not required. Resistance tubing OR hand weights. Boom box or stereo required. (40-60 minutes)
Chair Challenge
Our instructors will challenge you to a revitalizing workout without ever having to leave your chair. This class will provide light aerobic, strength, and flexibility training with little or no impact on the joints. Great for all fitness levels, especially beginners and those with low mobility. Equipment: Chairs. Hand weights and/or resistance tubes. Boom box or stereo required. (30-60 minutes)
Fitness Yoga
This fitness-based Yoga class focuses on toning your muscles as you learn beginning Yoga postures or "Asanas." Balance, strength and flexibility are all important components of this workout. Final relaxation will leave you calm and refreshed. Equipment: Boom box or stereo recommended, but not required. (40-60 minutes)
Fitness-Chair Yoga
Using modified yoga postures, our instructors can lead you through a low intensity yoga workout all while sitting in a chair. Balance, strength, and flexibility remain key components of this workout with an added focus on breathing techniques. Equipment: Chairs. Boom box or stereo recommended, but not required. (40-60 minutes)
Low Impact
Get back to the basics for this highly effective workout using patterns of low impact movement to challenge your cardio-vascular endurance. Muscle conditioning and core strength (abs and low back) complete this workout. Equipment: Boom box or stereo required. (40-60 minutes)
Pilates
One of the latest crazes in exercise; this stretch and tone workout enhances posture, muscle balance, muscle tone, flexibility and mind-body control. A certified Pilates instructor will lead you through various conditioning exercises that work the whole body. You will leave relaxed, but invigorated. The class occurs primarily on a mat. (40-60 minutes)
Pure Step
Novice-level step choreography is performed on an adjustable step to provide a safe, effective, cardiovascular and strength conditioning workout. Muscle conditioning and abdominal work finish out this moderate-intensity class. Equipment: Adjustable step benches and boom box or stereo required. (40-60 minutes)
Total Body Strength
Increase your muscular strength and endurance with this total body workout. Learn how to challenge the muscles of the upper body, lower body and core (abs and low back) using hand weights, resistance tubing and your own body weight. Perfect for all fitness levels. Equipment: Hand weights and/or resistance tubes and/or body bars, etc. Boom box or stereo also required. (40-60 minutes)
