NIFS hosts a field trip program reaching more than 25,000 central Indiana youth. We are always looking for energetic students and professionals to help us facilitate our programs. A comprehensive training program is provided for all entering volunteers.
Individuals completing the volunteer contract receive a FREE membership to the Fitness Center. Please see our volunteer guidelines and application below.

Rules and Regulations
General Requirements:
- Arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of the field trip to set up equipment.
- Stay until all field trip equipment is neatly and properly put away.
- Sign up to volunteer each month in a timely manner (no later than the 5th of each month).
Appearance and Conduct Requirements:
- Dress appropriately. Wear mentor t-shirt to all youth activities. T-shirts are $10 each.
- Use appropriate language. No swearing or offensive or threatening comments.
- Give full attention to the children. No cell phones, talking with friends, or otherwise appearing uninterested.
- When taking children to get a drink of water, lead them around the fitness equipment via the track or blue sidewalk. Stay away from equipment in use by members.
- If uncomfortable or unfamiliar with station/activity assignment, let the field trip coordinator know as soon as possible.
- Only teachers/chaperones may escort children to the restroom. Please direct them to the restrooms near the membership services area and the elevator (end of hallway, turn right through glass doors). Children are not allowed in locker rooms.
- If a child is injured, please notify the field trip coordinator immediately.
- Should a disciplinary problem with a child arise, please notify the field trip coordinator, who will contact teacher/chaperone.
- Be mindful and courteous toward NIFS members who are in the Fitness Center during a field trip. At all times, members have the right-of-way on the track as well as priority for any fitness equipment.

Absence Policy:
- If you are unable to attend a scheduled field trip either email or call 274.3432 ext. 272.
- An absence is considered unexcused if Kara does not receive an email or voicemail before the scheduled field trip. Two unexcused absences will result in the immediate loss of your fitness center membership and the termination of your mentor services.
